It's our opinion that there's more to be gained than lost by telling the truth of your life. If
it's good, it's not ego, but rather provides points of "connection." The information
provides a starting point and lets curiosity and kindred experience play it's proper role.
Don't be concerned if some part of the market, or your peers think telling good things
about yourself is egotistical, because it's not. It's business, and you need to go FIRST
... leaving the pregnant pause that follows to be filled by Clients who can relate to you.
Many people think they are experts. Say "thank you" and keep your own council.
Simple things like your favorite part of town, or where you have lived or come from may
constitute something quite marketable, because it can lead to commonality, and imply
some degree of preparedness for your target market. Remember, you KNOW the area
THEY want to move to. That's already makes you something of an expert compared to
them, and gives you a lot in common as to their dreams. They're trying to change their
life for the better moving here and you can play a very helpful role. You might just
know some things they'd like to hear, and like all of us, they would prefer a kindred
soul to help them. So "down to earth is better, and you need to "go first" with some
"kindred" info about you. Emotional things, like the examples above.
Be an artist about Real Estate. Everyone LOVES houses and "home," so let them
know that's you, too. That's a plus, and especially if you're not afraid to get your hands
dirty with projects, and details, and kids, and pets, and rosebeds you can talk about. It
means you contemplate and have energy for what is beautiful and meaningful in life,
and might be more sensitive to what they're looking to accomplish with their Dream
I HATE MY PICTURE ...
Then it's the wrong one. Keep trying with your iPhone. Life is about happiness.
Intelligence is Happiness servant ... neither can live without each other, but there's no
doubt about which one's the boss.
Snapping that picture, make sure there's plenty of sunlight (a little brighter on one side
of your face than the other) and don't try to look intelligent, coy, alluring or debonair.
Shoot for relaxed, fun, happy, as if you just blew out your birthday candles. Be easy-
going, everything else usually reads like insecurity, and people don't like you for
"smart." It's interesting, buth they LIKE you for your humanity. We ALL have lyrical
moments. Try to catch one of those. Your going to be going on a trip with your client,
and they want to go with someone FUN! It's not enough to look "good," your picture
has to have some "life" in your eyes.
THIS PICTURE is very IMPORTANT to get right and be proud of, or you'll
constantly second-guess all your advertising efforts that don't produce, and end up
lost. It's an important "tool." It's your first impression, so keep trying until you get ONE
great picture you're a little Proud of.
No one can tell from a picture who is "smart," or truly "nice." Skip those. Go for "happy-
friendly" and a lot of good assumption will come your way. Let your Client be the smart
one rather than intimidating with your wit or experience if they aren't.
AD CONSTRUCTION ...
We generally like the picture near the top Left of any ad. Anything you've done that
took Hard Work goes immediately to the right to encourage the assumption you're a
hard worker with character.
Pictures with a lot of Text to read on top can make ads look Top Heavy and laborious.
Still ... you do need to say "something" beyond being the local "house whisperer."

Vote for Yourself. Nobody can if you don't. Try to turn heads, nothing ventured,
nothing gained. Try to create an awareness of your preparedness by YOUR life implied
assumption of honesty, commitment and reliability suggested by education, Vote for
Yourself. Nobody can if you don't. Try to turn heads, nothing ventured, skills, jobs
you've held, clubs or association, hobbies, morality, something "personal" about you
that goes beyond Real Estate certificates consumers don't really awareness of your
preparedness by YOUR life nothing gained. Try to create an understand. Don't "go on"
about being a great negotiator. Nobody believes it, and understand. Don't "go on"
about being a great negotiator. Nobody believes it, and people at the high end are
likely to figure they know a lot more about it than you, so don't make it an issue.
Encourage the assumption in the reader’s minds that at least YOU like yourself by
being proud of "something." It doesn't have to be a big deal, but you're proud of it.
Past Employment can be a historically accurate Good reason why someone should
hire you so its not "bragging" to mention it, or awards - it's smart, and you ARE
applying for a job. A little "story" about your history or hobbies can help people
remember you ("...oh yes, you're the Painter...) and there is usually more to gain than
lose by telling some of the truth of your life.

Listening is my forte. Because helping people find their dream home can be an art form when done by
someone who loves the very notion of “HOME”... and that’s me. Maybe it’s because of the joy my own
home has played in my happiness, but House Hunting is just the kind of shopping I love to do. I love it
all, from the details of a million remodeling decisions, to the simple joys of having friends over in a
comforting environment. I love pouring through Architectural Digest, and going on Brokers Caravan
every week to keep up with the new homes on the market. I’m even painting fat little Fragonard Cherubs
on my dining room ceiling dome, so I think I’m in the right business. Because “Homes” are my pleasure.
And here is how my life experience may be helpful to you. My husband and I have moved “3” times
locally over the past 18 years before we finally learned the right questions to ask ourselves, and got it
right (for us, anyway) in the old estates part of Pebble Beach. Before, it was 3 years in Carmel on Scenic,
and then down the coast to Yankee Point on a cliff high over the ocean. Each time, we thought we’d
found heaven, yet eventually we moved. Because, there are many Pros & Cons about living in our vastly
different areas that you need to consider for a Tailor Fit. Buyers and Sellers need to ask the right
questions to get it right the first time.
It’s so easy to get “wowed” by our wonderful Dream Houses and beautiful nature that you can forget to
ask yourself some very important questions. “Can I really grow old in this house?” Or, “Will I truly be
happy in this So Private Gated Estate ... will it really feel like “Home?” Or, “Would I be happier in
something smaller where neighbors meander by and you can stroll into town for breakfast, then down to
the beach with your dog?” Then again, “so quaint” can end up too small. And that’s why I listen. To
help with the right questions … so you don’t make the same mistakes I did.
I believe in perfection. And I wouldn’t want a surgeon that didn’t feel the same. From my ballet ... to
real life, I’ve held high pressure positions with hours and deadlines that could singe. On the other
hand, catch me alone in the car on a good day and I’m Aretha Franklin (only with a Texas accent).
